In this project, Sardar Khan Design Studio explores the intersection of tactile materiality and spatial equilibrium. The design avoids the clinical coldness often associated with modernism, opting instead for a palette of earthy tones and layered textures that invite repose.
Spatial Hierarchy and Composition
The spatial hierarchy is defined by a clear central axis, where the bed serves as the primary anchor. Every peripheral element—from the low-profile furniture to the curated seating—acts as a functional satellite that reinforces the room’s core purpose: stillness. By maintaining a clean layout, we allow the architectural details to speak without visual noise.
Vertical Rhythm and Tactility
A defining feature of this interior is the vertical rhythm established through fluted wall paneling. These linear elements introduce a rhythmic, tactile quality to the vertical planes, effectively elongating the room’s volume. The repetition of these panels creates a sophisticated backdrop that catches light and shadow, providing depth that paint alone cannot achieve.
Ambient Luminosity
The atmosphere is defined by ambient luminosity. Rather than relying on singular overhead sources, the design utilizes a layering of recessed architectural lighting and natural light. This strategy ensures a diffused, soft glow that highlights the subtle variations in the neutral color palette and the rich textures of the fabrics, fostering an environment of perpetual calm.
